Eric Kerwood is a managing director in FTI’s Corporate Finance practice and is based in New York City. Mr. Kerwood has more than eleven years of experience in providing strategic, operational, managerial and financial solutions to distressed companies, their creditors and investors in both Chapter 11 and out-of-court restructurings. His experience has been in a number of industries, including real estate and hospitality, retail, equipment leasing, manufacturing, telecommunications, airline, and food service.
Services provided by Mr. Kerwood have included assisting both public and private companies and their senior management teams in developing multi-year financial projections and business plans; developing and implementing cash management and capital budgeting systems to stabilize and improve a company’s cash flow position; identifying and implementing liquidity enhancement initiatives; preparing and evaluating industry-specific analyses to assist in making strategic decisions to enhance overall profitability; and performing business and asset valuations to determine liquidation, acquisition and enterprise values to assist in the restructuring of a company’s capital structure, the disposition of non-core assets, or the closing of stores.
Mr. Kerwood also provides consulting services to lenders, creditors and other interested parties of distressed companies. He has conducted extensive reviews and analyses of business plans, financial projections, transaction proposals and management incentive compensation plans. He has also prepared complex models to determine estimated creditor recoveries during insolvency proceedings for multinational organizations operating under challenging legal structures.
Mr. Kerwood has been involved with many large and high profile national and international engagements, including a large ski resort and hotel operator; General Growth Properties, Inc.; Northwest Airlines, Inc.; a national home builder; a $400 million transportation equipment leasing company; a large international video game software publisher and distributor; a $1.5 billion global telecommunications provider; a $700 million aviation parts distributor and maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO) service provider; and the cosmetics division of a Fortune 100 company with multinational operations.
Prior to joining FTI in 2002, Mr. Kerwood was with the U.S. division of PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Business Recovery Services practice. He holds a B.S. from Boston College with concentrations in Finance and International Management Studies. He is a Certified Insolvency and Reorganization Advisor (CIRA), a Certified Turnaround Professional (CTP) and a member of the Turnaround Management Association and the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors.
