GIBS

Founded in 2000, GIBS is an internationally accredited business school based in Johannesburg, South Africa’s economic hub. As the “business school for business”, GIBS’ purpose is to significantly improve the competitive performance of individuals and organisations through business education. In addition to two world-class, internationally accredited MBA programmes (including a full-time Entrepreneurship MBA), GIBS offers a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA); a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration (PDBA); a certificate Programme for Management Development (PMD); a number of executive development courses, including the premier Global Executive Development Programme (GEDP); and in-house Company Specific Programmes designed to meet clients’ needs. Over and above the traditional business school offering, GIBS also offers the Centre for Leadership and Dialogue, a series of programmes aimed at bringing together the emerging and current leadership of South Africa to create a shared vision necessary for the building of a successful nation. Consistently rated as one of the top business schools in South Africa, in October 2011 the GIBS MBA was ranked amongst the top 100 business schools globally in the prestigious Financial Times Executive MBA Rankings 2011. GIBS is the only business school in Africa to appear in these rankings. In May 2011 GIBS was again ranked as one of the top business schools globally by the Financial Times, the only African business school to be placed in the top 50 business schools worldwide for open executive education programmes. This is the eighth year running that GIBS has achieved this accolade. GIBS is accredited by the Association of MBAs (AMBA), the Council for Higher Education and is a member of the South African Business Schools Association, the Association of African Business Schools and the European Academy of Business in Society.
